Tahoe Canada Sponsors Girls OFSAA Hockey Championships in Timmins

March 21st was the official kick off for the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) Girls A/AA Hockey Championships in Timmins. Hosted by the Ecole Secondaire Catholique Thériault Flames hockey team, the event welcomes fifteen of the top hockey teams from across Ontario. As the primary tournament sponsor, Tahoe Canada is thrilled to help make this exciting event possible.

Going into this tournament, the Flames are ranked tenth over the Timmins High & Vocational School Blues, who are in the 11th spot after a narrow 1-0 win in the NEOAA Girls A Hockey championship. This qualifies both Timmins teams to participate in the OFSAA tournament.

The tournament is expected to provide a boost to the local economy over the weekend, with large crowds arriving from every corner of the province to cheer on these top teams.

Convener of the tournament and Flames coach Patrick Durepos told the Daily Press, “The Flames are grateful for the support they have received in putting on this year’s OFSAA — especially from their major sponsor, Tahoe Resources Inc. Canada. There are teams from as far away as Sarnia and Fort Frances. It is nice to have them come to the North and see what our area is all about.”
